Hello ASAAP Families!! We pray that you are well, safe, and STAYING HOME if at all possible!! The decision to close this week came after much prayer and consideration of our families and our staff. After reviewing the data and doing our own research, we realized that this week would be important in flattening the COVID-19(Coronavirus) curve. We wanted to make sure that we did our part by having our team STAY HOME and follow the recommendations of CDC, to only go out if it is a necessity. We want more than anything to be with our students, but we feel that this is best for our team and our community. With that being said, we would like to share with you what we hope will be a benefit to our ASAAP families beginning March 30th. ASAAP has been in contact with school leadership from districts that we serve as well as districts from neighboring states, who have already began their distance learning lessons. Here is what we know for now: 1. It is imperative that your students complete their assignments-These additional school days off will not be made up, which means that if your child does not complete his or her assignments, they will miss necessary skills. 2. Distance learning is challenging-We have seen that implementing a daily schedule and a consistent work environment will best benefit students. 3. Students will have to submit their work for grading-This is to ensure accountability and inform teachers of your child's progression or regression. 4. Finally, your child can not do this on their own-They will need your support to complete their assignments and have them turned in on time. We have been working hard to set up distance learning opportunities at ASAAP. In order to follow the CDC recommendations for schools and child care centers, we are going to have to take additional measures to keep the students and our staff safe. ASAAP hopes to partner with you by doing the following things: We will have 3 different distance learning sessions at our ASAAP-Central(106 N. 38th Location) *7:30-10:30 *11:30-2:30 *3:30-6:30 These sessions will look completely different from what your children are accustomed to. We will only have 2 students to a table, with one student at each end of a 6 foot table, and we limit the classroom to 10 students. All items used by students (ie: pencils, erasers, crayons, etc.) will be in a gallon-sized Ziploc bag, disinfected each day and will only be used by that student. Students will have to bring their own devices. The purpose of this time will be for students to complete their daily assignments in a structured environment where they can receive assistance and feedback. We will not feed children, nor will students be able to bring outside food or drinks. Students will not be able to bring any items that have to be hung up or stored. We plan to have an enrichment activity each day. Students will do these activities as individuals but will be able to interact with other students from their seats. Students must be picked up on time so that we have time to disinfect the center prior to the arrival of the next session's students. Parents will not be permitted into the building. We will receive and dismiss students through carpool. Students and staff that have ANY COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed in the building. Our goal is to provide assistance during this season of distance learning to as many of our students as possible, and others that may need our services. Our tuition will remain the same and you are able to use this week's(March 23-27) credit towards these services. We received an email from MSDH this morning letting us know that we will be able to remain open to support those that have to work and to support students that need assistance with distance learning. Please know that we feel this is the best way that we can serve you and our community while keeping our staff and your children safe. If for any reason we are required to close and are open less than 3 days, you will receive a full refund for services that were not rendered. If for any reason we are required to close or are open for less than 3 days per week, you will receive a full refund for services that were not rendered. We will open registration for ASAAP distance learning on Wednesday, March 25th. Thank You for your understanding and we look forward to serving you as we work together through this global pandemic. Hello ASAAP Families, As always, thank you for trusting ASAAP with your most prized possessions! These are unprecedented and different times, but we have HOPE and we shall PREVAIL. Due to the state's most recent decision to close all public schools through April 17, 2020, ASAAP is awaiting correspondence from the MS Department of Human Services (our childcare governing body) in regards to future child care COVID-19 (Coronavirus) regulations. The health and safety of our families and children is our utmost priority, and we will do our best to continually meet the needs. As of today: 1. ALL accounts will be suspended from the AUTODRAFT service until further notice. 2. ALL accounts will receive a full tuition credit for tuition payment drafted for the week of March 23-27 to be applied to future services. 3. ALL ASAAP locations will be CLOSED March 23-27, as we create a plan to best serve our families. 4. Pending MSDHS approval, ASAAP plans to offer academic and enrichment services to our students during this extended break, beginning March 30. Please follow ASAAP on social media, our website (www.asaap.us), and check texts and emails regarding any updates as they occur. These are unprecedented and different times, but we have HOPE and we shall PREVAIL! In HOPE, Van & Nicole Jones Dear ASAAP Parents,
We have been advised by Lamar County Schools that they are extending Spring Break with an anticipated return date of Monday, March 30th. As you are aware, the CDC is rapidly adjusting its recommendations based on continually changing information. As of today, their recommendation is to discontinue gatherings of 50 people or more to reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19(Coronavirus). The MS Department of Human Services has not given us any reason to believe that we will have to close as a result of these recommendations. As of now, Hattiesburg Public Schools and Petal Schools have not issued a statement about plans to extend Spring Break, but we will closely monitor their correspondence. As stated in previous communications, ASAAP seeks to always support the health and well-being of students and families, and we will continue to closely monitor and receive guidance from the MS Department of Human Services regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus). At this time, our Central location (106 N. 38th Ave.) is open on Monday, 3/16/20 –Wednesday, 3/18/20 (7:30-6:00) of Spring Break Week, and will be opened for full day care on Monday, 3/23/20-Friday, 3/27/20 (7:30-6:00). Registration for extended Spring Break will begin on today, Monday 3/16/20. Students that register for extended Spring Break will be billed an additional $40 to cover extended hours and meals. Register for extended break, 3/23 – 3/27 by clicking on the following link: https://www.asaap.us/school-break-camp.html *Due to the UNPRECEDENTED NATURE of this situation, we will automatically apply a 50% credit to student accounts that do not attend the week of 3/23-3/27. In order to ensure the highest level of safety and to prevent the spread of germs, we are asking our families who have signed up to attend for Spring Break & Extended Spring Break to do the following:
